About Us.

Bolotho Barns are built from local stone with slate roofs and have been converted from 19th century stables and cow sheds. Bolotho farm, as part of the Killiow estate, dates back to the 6th century and has passed through several powerful Cornish families.

Bolotho is surrounded by farmland and woods and is a really tranquil spot, yet is ideally located to explore all of Cornwall. Guests are welcome to explore our 10 acres of field, sometimes populated by sheep, and our wild patch of woodland.

We moved to Bolotho and renovated the two barns over six months in 2010 with the objective of creating the kind of perfect holiday cottage that we would like to stay in ourselves. We opened for guests in August 2010.

We supply local produce wherever possible, such as: Cornish jam, Cornish clotted cream, locally grown Tregothnan tea, Simply Cornish biscuits, Cornish sea salt, locally baked bread, freshly laid eggs from a local farm as well as Pure Nuff Stuff Cornish natural bubble bath/shower gel and soap.

We also try to be aware of our environment. We encourage recycling and composting and we use Ecover environmentally friendly cleaning products throughout the barns. For guests without a car, we are happy to pick up from the local train station or airport and advise on public transport. We welcome walkers and cyclists and provide guidebooks and cycle storage.

We are happy to offer information on local places to visit, activities to try (we are particularly keen on any kind of watersports!) and advice on the best local pubs and restaurants.

We are delighted that some of our first guests are now booking again with us.
